  1. By most accounts, George Jones (born George Glenn Jones September 12, in Saratoga, Texas, died April 26, , in Nashville, Tennessee), was the finest vocalist in the recorded history of country music. Initially, he was a hardcore honky tonker in the tradition of Hank Williams, but over the course of his career he developed an affecting, nuanced ballad style.

  3. Color Of The Blues Lyrics: Blue must be the color of the blues / Up above me are the skies / Like the twinkle in your eyes / These things are the color of a blue / In the mail your letters came.
  4. This excellent collection would have been even better if some genuine but omitted Musicor hits - Walk through this world with me, Say it's not you, Take me, Good year for the roses - had been included instead of some of those re-recordings, but this remains the strongest available CD of George's music from the Musicor years/5(12).
  5. Jones' Musicor recordings have been criminally mistreated through the years with a flood of rip-off collections filled with muddy re-recordings. The budget-priced 20 Greatest isn't a perfect collection but there are a lot worse. The disc consists mainly of re-recordings but at least they seem to come from the same time period as the originals, and the sound isn't too bad.
